Research In Motion has officially called it quits on the 16 GB BlackBerry Playbook, however still plans on continuing production of the 32 and 64 GB models. This is of course due to the fact that there is so much competition out there with the android tablets as well as the Ipad. RIM has been selling their PlayBook tablets at a remarkably reduced price in the hopes of getting it into more hands in an attempt to regain some of the tablet market.
RIM is really struggling to stay above the water right now and I think this is a step in the right direction. RIM needs to focus on BlackBerry 10 and should be cutting a lot of the dead weight products of the company and routing those funds towards the future products, which at this point have the ability to see them back on track or cripple them in the consumer based market for good.
